In Fall 2006, the federal government’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) formally approved The Compliance Team, Inc. as one of eleven accrediting bodies with “national deeming authority” for providers of DMEPOS (Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, Supplies). The Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) of 2003 requires that all DMEPOS providers who wish to participate in the Medicare program must be successfully accredited by a CMS approved accrediting organization.

GET ACCREDITED FOR DMEPOS COMPETITIVE BIDDING!
In order for DMEPOS Suppliers to enroll or re-enroll in the Medicare Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) program, ALL are required to obtain and submit an approved accreditation to the NSC by September 30, 2009.

In order for DMEPOS Suppliers to participate in the Medicare Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program, one must meet Quality Standards and be accredited!

Suppliers that are interested in bidding in the second round of the program must be aware of two key deadlines:
Suppliers must be accredited or have applied for accreditation by July 21, 2008 to submit a bid for the second round of competitive bidding. CMS cannot accept a bid from any supplier that is not accredited or that has not applied for accreditation by July 21, 2008.
  Suppliers will need to be accredited to be awarded a contract. The accreditation deadline for the second round of competitive bidding is January 14, 2009. Suppliers must be accredited before this date to be awarded a contract. Suppliers should apply for accreditation immediately to allow adequate time to process their applications.
